FAQs
Why are sessions held from a private residence?
Holding sessions at a private residence also allows us to carefully prepare and clean the space between sessions, store and organise sensory-play equipment, and provide a more intimate and comfortable environment for families. Appropriate hygiene, cleaning and safety practices are followed to ensure the space is suitable for children and their families.
Where are you located?
We are based in Balgownie. As our sessions are held at a private residence, the address is provided to you via the booking confirmation email.
Can my child attend without a parent or caregiver?
For the safety and enjoyment of all children, parental or adult supervision is required at all times during the sessions.
My child is sick and can’t make a session. What is the refund policy?
We understand that plans can change, especially with little ones! To help us manage our sessions and ensure places are available for all families, we kindly require at least 24 hours’ notice if you’re unable to attend. Bookings are non-refundable. However, if you provide 24 hours’ notice, we’re happy to offer a make-up class. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our sessions running smoothly!
I can see sessions are only available until November 2026. Will more classes become available?
Our current sessions are available to book until November 2026. We’re taking some time over the end of the year to refine our sessions, make improvements, and ensure we can continue providing the best possible messy-play experience for your little ones. More sessions will be released in the new year once we’ve had a chance to regroup and finalise our upcoming schedule.
Why do your sessions only start from 6 months old?
Our messy-play sessions are designed for babies and toddlers from 6 months of age because this is generally when little ones are becoming more curious, interactive and engaged with sensory experiences. From around this age, many babies are beginning to sit with support or independently, reach for and explore different textures, and become more interested in using their hands and senses to investigate their surroundings. Our activities are planned with this developmental stage in mind, while keeping safety and age-appropriate exploration at the heart of every session. Every child develops at their own pace, so if your little one is close to 6 months and you’re unsure whether they’re ready, please feel free to get in touch with us.
Are there bathroom facilities available?
Yes! A bathroom is available onsite for families to use during our messy play sessions.
I have more than one child. Do you offer discounts for multiple children?
Please contact us for further information prior to booking and we’ll be happy to provide details about our available discounts.
Is there an area for me to change my baby?
Yes! A baby change area is available onsite for your convenience.
I’m breastfeeding. Is there a dedicated area for me to breastfeed my baby?
Yes! We have a comfortable chair available for breastfeeding or bottle feeding during your visit.
What clearances, certifications and insurance do you have?
Current CPR, First Aid and Working with Children Check. Current Public and Professional Indemnity Insurance and registered with Playgroup NSW.
Can I take photos and videos?
Absolutely! We love seeing you capture those messy moments and memories. For the privacy and comfort of all families, please only take photos or videos of your own child. Please ensure other children and families are not visible in the background of your photos or videos. Thank you for helping us keep our sessions a safe and respectful space for everyone.
Do you do birthday or party events?
Not currently, but we’re looking into offering birthday parties and private events in the future!
Are the sessions structured?
No! Our messy play sessions are all about free play, exploration and having fun. There are no set routine or structured activities. Children are encouraged to explore the different sensory experiences at their own pace, follow their curiosity and get as messy as they like! Parents and carers are welcome to join in, too.
Will you be holding sessions on other days?
Currently, our sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We’ll be reviewing our session days in the new year and taking feedback from our families to help us choose days and times that work best for everyone. If there’s a particular day or time that would suit your family, we’d love to hear from you!
What do we bring to the sessions?
Messy play can get, well… messy! We recommend bringing a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, wipes, a towel and a change of clothes. Dress your child in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting messy!
How long is each session?
Each session runs for 45 minutes. At the end of your session, we kindly ask that you head off so we have enough time to clean, reset and prepare for our next session. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!
